Creating a CorrLinks account
Firstly, you have to register as a new user by clicking on the Register button to get started. After the new account has been set up, you are going to receive an email which contains a link to verify the new account.
Logging into CorrLinks account
After you have a CorrLinks account, then you are able to login to the CorrLinks account.
- At the first step, go to www.corrlinks.com with your account.
- After that, you have to click Account Management.
- Then, click Manage my inmate list.
- The next step that you have to do is to choose the Federal Bureau of Prisons as the agency.
- Please type in the ID code.
- Lastly, click Go.
Getting a CorrLinks Premier Account
So, how to get a CorrLinks Premier Account? Here are steps to do:
- When you are inside of your CorrLinks account, you have to go to “manage my inmate list.”
- Then, you have to put an X in the email alert box.
- Please sign up for Corrlinks Premier Account. Make sure that you enter your information correctly.
For note: A CorrLinks Premier Account will allow you to receive real time alerts for messages from your loved ones. You are able to retain your messages for 60 days instead of 30 days, use the mobile application, and along with other benefits. A CorrLinks Premier Account only costs $6.00 per year.
Using CorrLinks to Email Federal Prisoners
Here are steps to use CorrLinks to email your loved one in Prison:

Step 1: Receive an Invitation
To communicate with federal prison inmates, first you have to receive an email request from them. It means that you must first give them your email address. Actually, you are able to register for a CorrLinks account without first receiving the request, however you will not be able to email any inmates yet. The inmate request is going to come to your email inbox after you give them your email address and they submit it to the CorrLinks system. The sender will be CorrLinks. The subject will include the name of the inmate. Please click on the name of the inmate in the subject box to proceed to the next step.

Step 2: The Inmate Request
Two essential pieces of information are given to you in the inmate request email. The first one is the link to the CorrLinks site. The second one is the Inmate Identification Code. Remember that the Inmate Identification Code comes in handy later. What you have to do is click on the link to the CorrLinks site in order to register for a CorrLinks account, if you do not already have one. It will take you to the CorrLinks Login or Registration page.

Step 3: Registration
Now, you are able to click Register. This is going to take you to the Sign Up (Email Address and Password page).

Step 4: Sign Up (Email Address and Password Page)
You have to fill out all of the needed information. Please copy and paste the Inmate Identification Code from step 2 into the Identification Code box. You have to ensure that you use the same email address in which you received the request to email an inmate or their identification code will not work. Simply, click on the check box, and click “Next.” You are going to be sent a verification email to your email inbox.

Step 5: Enable Email Alerts
If asked, at any time to input an inmate’s ID code, you have to ensure that you click the “Enable Email Alert” check box. After that, click “Accept.” This is going to send notices to your regular email inbox whenever they message you via CorrLinks. Otherwise, they are able to send you messages, but you will never know it, unless you check CorrLinks regularly.

Step 6: Verification Email
Need to know that the verification email is going to come from the sender: “Web@CorrLinks.com.” The subject line is going to read: “Sign Up Verification Link.” Just click on the link to proceed.

Step 9: CorrLinks Account Page
Finally, your account is set up right now. We are going to show you how to email federal prisoners whom you have approved for correspondence. Please click on the “Mailbox” icon to access your mailbox. Then, click “New Message.” You are going to be taken to your message box, where you are able to compose messages. Please click in the area of the red circle to get a drop down list, where you are able to choose inmates to compose messages to.
To compose a message, you have to choose the inmates you want to email. To do that, simply you are able to click the check box along the left side of their names. You will be able to write messages to individuals or some inmates at a time. After that, click “OK.” The rest is like writing a regular email. Sometimes, when trying to email an inmate, you are going to get a message stating that they are pending approval. If so, you need to wait until the pending period is over before composing a message to them. Usually, this does not take any longer than a day.
