TRULINCS here is a fee-based system where inmates should pay in order to send or receive email. This service provides direct email access to federal inmates, unlike most commercial sites that allow correspondents to send an email which is printed and mailed to an inmate.

So, the inmates should pay for sending or receiving an email. They should pay about $0.05 per minute for use of this computer system. If they want to print the message, it will cost approximately $0.15 per page.

If they send an email to someone, it can cost up to $0.30. As a comparison, in a lot of U.S federal prisons, inmates wages start at $0.12 per hour. With these wages, of course, you can at least cover the costs of sending and receiving messages from loved ones from home.

  • Cost for text-messaging

The Text Message Service is currently only for phones with the U.S number and only one number can be associated with the active CorrLinks account. So, you can only text message inmates which have been established in your CorrLinks account. Sure, you can select the packages as per your requirement, here are they:

  • $12 for 3 months
  • $36 for 12 months

Sending an Email to Inmate, Here’s the Guide!

In order to send email to inmates with CorrLinks, make sure that you’ve created a CorrLinks account first. Once you successfully registered into CorrLinks, sure, you’re able to send email to your loved one in prison.

Here’s how to send email to inmates with CorrLinks!

  • At the CorrLinks account page, you should click on the ‘Mailbox’.
  • By doing it, there will be a page with icons of new messages, inbox and draft message.
  • To send email, you should click on the ‘New Message’ option.
  • Then, you will get a page on your screen with To, Subject, and Message categories.
  • After that, click on the ‘To’ box to choose an inmate you want to send a message to.
  • Once choosing an inmate, you can then click on the ‘Ok’ button.
  • Compose a message and then click on the ‘Send’ button to deliver it to your loved one in prison.

Congratulations! You successfully send a message/ email to an inmate in prison. Well, you should keep in mind that you should wait for  a day or two to compose a message if you get the notification of ‘Pending Approval’.

Time to Receive CorrLinks Messages

Because of staff monitoring, messages to an inmate will take around an hour to be delivered. While messages from an inmate to send to outside will take around 20 minutes to be delivered to an outside contact’s CorrLinks.com inbox.

If your messages are not delivered, it may be retained or rejected by the institution for security reasons. Therefore, the fee will not be refunded as the fee charged by them is the cost of sending a message to the facility. In this case, their customers are able to pay for the services through Credit Cards which are password protected.

Instead, CorrLinks offers a Text Message service which has been introduced to keep all generations and financial situations of families of an inmate who cannot be afraid or is not equipped to use an email mailing system.

Well, this mailing system allows messages to be sent and received directly to phones using only messagings services. It is also compatible with the four carriers including T-Mobile, Verizon, At&T and Sprint. So, you will be required to enter a credit card to pay for the services.

In this case, an inmate will send you a message via the email service which is available at their institution that delivers it on your phone in the form of a text message. Well, this is the default system to send only the first 150 characters of the message. But, if your message is long, you will have an option to receive up to the first 1,000 characters through 8 text messages.

  • Once you are logged in, you should click on the ‘Account Management’ option.
