The email system used by United States Federal Bureau of Prisons to enable the inmates communicate with their family and friends. TRULINCS is a fee-based system which the inmates must pay to send or receive email. Unlike commercial sites that allow correspondents to send an email which is printed and mailed to an inmate, this CorrLinks service provides direct email access to federal inmates. The inmates have to pay $0.05 per minute for use of this computer system. They may print messages at a cost of $0.15 per page. Sending a message to someone may cost up to $0.30. As a comparison, in many United States federal prisons, the inmates wages start at $0.12 per hour.
