United States Penitentiary or USP Coleman 1 is counted as a maximum security federal prison in Coleman, Florida. This one houses male inmates. The prison opened in 2001. It is part of the Coleman Federal Correctional Complex. The division of the Department of Justice of the Federal Bureau of Prisons is the one that administers it.

The prison called USP Coleman 1 is located in central Florida. This one is the south of the town of Coleman, off Highway 301 on State Road 470 in Sumter County. It is about 50 miles northwest of Orlando, 60 miles northeast of Tampa, and 35 miles south of Ocala.

United States Penitentiary or USP Coleman 1 has literacy, GED, and English as the Second Language or ESL programs in English and Spanish. There are some Adult Continuing Education classes, such as business, Spanish, commercial driver’s license, creative writing, parenting, public speaking, pre-release programming, employment, and personal finance skills. In addition, there are also high school diplomas and post-secondary degrees. As for these two, they are available through paid correspondence programs.

One of the good things about USP Coleman 1 is the fact that it has the likes of a recreation year, hobby craft center, leisure center, sports leagues, music center, games room, and a fitness area. In the fitness area, there are spinning bikes, treadmills, elliptical machines, rowing machines, step machines, and sit up boards. As for the games room, there are table games such as foosball and ping pong.

The location of USP Coleman 2 is the same as USP Coleman 1. This prison is the place for informants, former cops, ex-gang members, and so on. In this place, there are a total of 12 housing units that surround the recreation yard.

There is also a recreation yard, hobby craft center, leisure center, sports leagues, music center, games room, and a fitness area.
